Sami Frey (born 13 October, 1937) became a celebrity in France during his short-lived affair with Brigitte Bardot but will always be remembered by film fans for his stylish turn as Franz, one third of the trio of would-be outlaws in Jean-Luc Godard’s Bande à part (1964). Amongst his many other stage and screen roles was a highly acclaimed performance as Antonin Artaud in En compagnie d’Antonin Artaud (1993).
